Everything happens locally in your browser. The PDF is rendered on your device, your annotations are drawn on your device, and the edited file is generated on your device — at no point is the document uploaded. This is a meaningful difference from mainstream online PDF editors, which process your file server-side. The documents people edit most — application forms, contracts, ID-bearing paperwork — are exactly the ones that should not be passing through third-party servers.
The editor is deliberately focused. It does not re-typeset the PDF's existing text (no tool can do that reliably without the source file); instead it layers your additions precisely on top, the same way you would annotate a printed page. For most form-filling, correcting, and markup jobs, that is exactly what is needed — and it works on any PDF, scanned or digital, regardless of what software created it.

Is my PDF uploaded while I edit it?
No. The entire editor — page rendering, your annotations, and the final export — runs in your browser on your device. The document never touches a server, which means you can safely edit contracts, forms containing personal data, and financial documents. Closing the tab removes everything from memory.
Can I edit the existing text in my PDF?
Yes. Switch to the "Edit text" tool and every text run on the page becomes clickable. Click one and the editor lifts the exact wording, size, and position, covers the original, and lets you retype it in place — bold/italic and serif/sans/monospace styling are detected and matched automatically. One honest nuance: PDFs embed subsetted fonts that cannot be reused for new characters, so replacements use the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times, Courier). At the same size and position the result is visually seamless in the vast majority of documents.
How do I fill out a form that isn't fillable?
Choose the + Text tool, click on a blank field, and type your answer. Each text box can be moved with the drag grip, resized with A− / A+, and recolored from the floating toolbar. Repeat for every field, then click Download PDF. The typed answers are embedded into the document itself and print exactly as shown.
Is the blackout tool real redaction?
It draws a permanent opaque black rectangle into the PDF's page content — visually, the content is gone in every viewer and in print. However, if the PDF has a digital text layer, the covered text may technically still exist in the file's internals and could be extracted by determined tooling. For scanned documents (images), blackout is complete redaction. For born-digital documents with legal stakes, use purpose-built redaction software that strips the underlying content.
What font does added text use?
Helvetica, the most universally supported PDF standard font — it renders identically in every PDF viewer without embedding large font files. Text supports Western European (Latin-1) characters; characters outside that range, such as emoji or CJK scripts, are not available in the standard font and are removed at export.
Will my edits look the same in other PDF viewers?
Yes. Edits are written into the PDF's page content as native PDF objects — real text runs and vector rectangles, not browser-specific annotations. Adobe Acrobat, Apple Preview, Chrome, and print drivers all render them identically, because they are part of the document itself.
Can I undo an edit?
Every edit remains adjustable until you export: select any element to move it, restyle it, or delete it (✕ on its toolbar, or the Delete key). The original file on your disk is never modified — exporting produces a new "-edited.pdf" download — so you can always reopen the original and start fresh.
Does the editor work on scanned PDFs?
Yes, and it is one of the best use cases. Scanned pages are just images, so tools that try to edit text fail on them completely — but placing text, whiteout, and highlights on top works perfectly. Fill in a scanned form, cover an error on a scanned contract, or stamp a label on a scanned archive exactly as you would with a digital PDF.
